It seems like everywhere you go this winter, you hear of people getting catching nasty colds or getting the flu. In my experience, if you can catch it early on, you can avoid it.
If you ever feel like you are getting a sore throat, or have been exposed to others who have had a cold or flu, follow these tips for keeping yourself and your family well.
(By the way, I call it the “Uh-Oh!” protocol, because that is usually what you say to yourselves at that moment you wake up in the morning with a scratchy, sore throat.)
Tip #1: Boost your Thieves usage!
I use the Thieves Spray, and spritz it right in the back of my throat. The Thieves 3-pack is a great option, as you can keep one at home, one in your purse and one at your office.
If you don’t have the Thieves Spray then *gargle with the Thieves essential oil blend 2-3 times a day.
* Thieves gargle recipe: In a glass or ceramic container (never plastic), fill with 4 oz. of water and add 2-3 drops of Thieves.
Keep using your Thieves through out the day. Apply it to the bottoms of your feet, and if you have a diffuser, Thieves will be your best bet to diffuse in your home, office or your yoga studio. For more about Thieves, check out The Secret of Thieves!
It’s a fascinating story how this blend of cloves, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary got it’s name!
Tip #2 Hydrate and Alkalize!
In the morning and through out the day, drink warm water with a drop of Young Living’s lemon essential oil or fresh squeezed lemon juice. Drink at least 8-10 ounces of water per day.
I also recommend Young Living’s AlkaLime®, a precisely-balanced alkaline mineral complex formulated to neutralize acidity and maintain desirable pH levels in the body. Infused with lemon and lime essential oils and organic whole lemon powder, AlkaLime also features enhanced effervescence and biochemic cell salts for increased effectiveness.
Bacteria LOVES an acidic environment so lay off all acid forming foods for a few days. This includes sugar, alcohol, coffee, dairy, meat, corn, soy and wheat. Generally lighten up your normal food intake and load up on fresh organic green leafy vegetables like kale, spinach, cilantro, cucumbers, chard etc..
Tip #3: Build Internal Immunity with Inner Defense & Life 5
Inner Defense™ reinforces systemic defenses and creates unfriendly terrain for yeast and fungus. This also promotes a healthy respiratory function. Inner Defense is the Thieves blend with oregano, thyme and citronella in a capsule.
And finally, keep up the good bacteria in your intestines with Life 5 before bed on an empty stomach. Life 5 builds and restores core intestinal health by providing five clinically proven probiotic strains including two advanced super strains to enhance intestinal health, sustain energy and improve immunity.
