No wonder yoga had become so popular in our culture. It’s what millions of people do to move, breathe, unwind and let go of stress and tension. Yoga is a way clean the slate of our entire being.
But did you know that we can magnify our yoga practice with essential oils and reduce stress and the occasional blues with aromatherapy?
The olfactory in the action that takes place in the part of our brain where the amygdala resides. The amygdala, serves as our emotional memory ‘hard-drive’ in our brain. That is why when you smell certain scents, you can have a flash of a memory come to you instantly.
In a 2006 study, British researchers from the University of Newcastle and Northumbira wrote that aromatherapy “provides management of depression, anxiety and some congnative disorders, sleeplessness and stress related disorders.”
In my 25 years as a healing arts professional, I have to say one of the quickest ways of helping my clients with stress, and occasional feelings of ‘the blues’ is using therapeutic grade essential oils and movement!
